Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the area, producing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Impact

Residents witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Rescue organizations received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were lacking electricity.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both regions.

Health Warning

Health officials alerted that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.

This alert comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
